Nokia N900 8 300x300 Nokia N900 Fixed focus video preview

As we all know, Nokia devices usually come with pretty high-end camera and video capturing facilities. Fortunately, the Nokia N900 doesn’t divert from this trend sporting a 5-Megapixel Carl Zeiss Tessar lens with a focal length 5.2 mm. However, another interesting feature of the Nokia N900 is its built-in fixed focus feature, which comes in very handy when shooting videos. Read on after the jump for more details.

Fixed focus means that when filming an object or person the Nokia N900’s camera lens obtains the sharpest possible image, without any additional input from the user. In short, the device uses the first focus that it obtains – although, there are a few additional features that separate it from standard fixed-focus lens.

For starters, on the Nokia N900, you have the ability to pause or stop filming and re-focus the lens on whatever you desire and then continue filming. Having this option makes the Nokia N900 better than most fixed-focus devices, as it means you can actually adjust the focus, and then continue filming, which just isn’t the case on most fixed-focus lens cameras.
